VertSolve nominated for Most Revolutionary Powertrain at DARPA Lift

VertSolve’s patent-pending hybrid generator technology was nominated by DARPA for the “Most Revolutionary Powertrain” award at DARPA Lift Competition. We successfully flew the only hybrid-electric system among the entire field at DARPA Lift.
As an integral part of our aircraft for DARPA Lift, we developed a large, parallel-hybrid system designed to provide class-leading power for the quad-copter configuration of our aircraft. This system is designed around low-cost, modular and integrated package that is high performance and easily adaptable to different missions and size classes of aircraft.
During the week at DARPA Lift, we were able to test, refine, and demonstrate the capabilities of this system, culminating in a full-up test where we demonstrated:
Battery-powered vertical takeoff of the aircraft
Airstart and warmup of the generator system, controlled remotely
Stable hover on generator power with battery voltage increasing
Safe landing and shutdown of the generator and aircraft
VertSolve was nominated for the “Most Innovative Powertrain Award” by DARPA
We are actively developing the VertSolve Generator system as an integral part of the VertSolve aircraft as well as a standalone product that can be integrated into other aircraft. Designed from the outset for modularity, our system can be quickly integrated into a wide range of platforms
